Vision

To align multidisciplinary approaches towards wide areas of biological sciences, the department strives to be a Centre of excellence in teaching as well as in diverse areas of research to promote knowledge, skills and expertise in students required to serve the society as educators, University/College teachers, research scientists and administrators.

Mission

To meet the dire needs of coming decades, the Department of Zoology is committed to impart most recent and updated education to students, to deliver society-oriented and need- based research, to promote academia-industry linkage, to hold regular seminars by invited speakers and subject specialists for the scientific grooming of students and faculty and to develop a collaboration both at national and international levels. 

College Infrastructure & Services:
  • Basic Knowledge: To develop true understanding of ZOOLOGY with knowledge based study and value added research.

  • Specialized Knowledge: To confer St. Mary’s College a National and International recognition. We, therefore, are focusing on the advancement of new methodologies.

  • Research and Development: To accomplish high quality research and produce well qualified teachers and researchers to participate in development projects.

  • Practical Experience: To grant students with a specialized experience that implants the intellect of professional morals in their personal through internships and research projects. 

  • Communication Skills: To communicate schooling and inculcate study background in such a move that develops useful skills in students and inspire them towards a career of modernization

Strategic plan
  • Curriculum: Learning in St. Mary’s College is based on syllabus harmonized with HEC and GCUF

  • Elements: To follow the curriculum based on recommendations of HEC and GCUF academic bodies and QEC according to the requirements of the Subject.

  • Strategies: To attract and retain highly qualified, energetic and motivated faculty in all core areas of the program. To ensure that curriculum is taught by using the latest and high-quality text/ reference books and other learning methodologies

Faculty Development:

The St. Mary’s Professional Development provision offers support for staff to develop the key skills, knowledge, technology use, capacity building, new methodologies and attitudes expected for effective performance across all roles within the College, and to integrate continuous learning and development as a vital component of working life at St. Mary’s.

Industry/Labs Collaboration:

St. Mary’s is already shifting toward providing students practical learning experiences that take place outside the four walls of the classroom. Students interning in nonprofit and community-based organizations benefit from the opportunity to apply lessons learned in the classroom while also cultivating skills essential to future career success. In addition, students are able to meet the human resource needs of financially constrained organizations while getting an insider’s view of careers in nonprofit management and community mobilization. For this, one concern HOD or faculty  member shall be appoint along with one administration official to provide supervision and regular visitation during the period of internship. 

Workshops and seminars:

A number of seminars, conferences and awareness walks are organized by the institution to provide substantial and updated information to masses about the programs.

Building and maintaining strong campus-community partnerships that channel resources to young people takes hard work and dedication from all parties involved. This section outlines the steps that your local effort may take to prepare, initiate and sustain professionalism.
